NEPALI TEXT · TWO DIRECTIONS
Convert between Preeti and Nepali Unicode
Bring old Nepali text into Unicode, or prepare Unicode text for a Preeti document. Conversion stays on your device.
Paste text only. For Preeti → Unicode, select just the Preeti passage from your document; ordinary English uses the same character codes.
Up to 50,000 characters per conversion. Your source stays available.
Preeti output is encoded text. After pasting it into Word or another editor, apply the Preeti font to display Nepali. The .txt download does not include a font.
Keep Nepali text usable across documents
This Preeti to Unicode converter helps when text copied from an older Nepali document appears as Latin letters and symbols. Choose the reverse direction when a document needs Preeti-encoded text. It changes character encoding, not the language or meaning of your writing.
How to use

- Paste the relevant Nepali text into the source box.
- Select Convert text and compare the result with your source.

- No signup or text uploads.
- Separate source and result boxes for review.
- Text downloads work without a document editor.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Preeti and Unicode?
Preeti is a legacy font encoding: familiar Latin characters represent Nepali glyphs when displayed with the Preeti font. Unicode represents Nepali letters directly and works in apps with Devanagari support. Changing a font alone does not convert the encoding.
Why does my Preeti result look like English letters?
That is the underlying Preeti encoding. Copy it into a document and apply the Preeti font there to display the intended Nepali letters. A plain text file cannot embed a font; this page shows the encoded characters so you can copy them accurately.
Are my documents uploaded or stored?
The converter processes pasted text on your device. It does not upload the text or save it in browser storage. Copy or download your result before leaving the page.
Will it convert every old document perfectly?
The converter supports standard Preeti mappings, vowel marks, half letters and common conjuncts. Other legacy fonts, damaged PDF text extraction and unusual glyph variants can need corrections. Review the result against the source; this tool does not preserve document formatting.
Can I convert English and Nepali in the same passage?
For Preeti to Unicode, paste only the Preeti passage: English letters and punctuation can also be Preeti codes, so they cannot be identified reliably in plain text. Unicode to Preeti leaves English letters unchanged, but apply the Preeti font only to Nepali sections in your document.
Does this convert photos, PDFs or Romanized Nepali?
No. This tool converts pasted text, up to 50,000 characters at a time. It does not read images or upload documents. Use Nepali Typing for Romanized words such as namaste; those are different from Preeti-encoded text.
